The Flu x 6

Well, then the fever hit us.  And it hit us hard!!  Sunday, midnight - Carly fever.  Monday - Harper fever.  Tuesday - Matt and Chloe fever.  Break on Wednesday from any new people joining the super hot club.  Thursday - Channing and Finley fever.  Let me tell ya....it is a blast having so many sick people!!  And here it is Monday of the next week and Finley still has a fever!  The fevers usually lasted a couple of days, then go away and then come back again.  Matt and Chloe had it the longest.  Matt luckily had a well visit during the sick week, so his Dr. told me that if I felt anything to get some Tamaflu and that should help.  I did get the cough so I started it right away.  Hopefully I don't come down with it as bad as everyone else....it didn't look too fun!!  Channing was super cute sitting in her chair with her cup and bowl of cheerios!!  This is the only time this child sits still!

This is our sick basket.  All my medicine that I administer is in my basket as well as my spreadsheet for what everyone has been given.  Taking care of 6 people with the flu is no fun.  But, the extra snuggles were nice :)

Queen Carly got wheeled around on her first day of being sick.  It was seventy degrees outside so we tried to air her out and not get anyone else sick......I guess it didn't work!!

Girls on the Run

Our niece Reilly has been doing Girls on the Run afterschool.  Well, their final event was to run a 5K!  Only catch, you have to run with an adult!  So Uncle Matt came to the rescue and decided to run with her.
Despite the fact that Sunday night I had to take Matt to the ER for chest pains (he ended up being fine.  They checked everything on him and couldn't figure out what caused his pains.  He took some medicine and that calmed everything down), they ran the race only 6 days later.  Reilly was so super pumped for this race!  We were so excited for her.
 We cheered our hearts out!

They did a great job......but then it hit!  Reilly was beat from this race, which suprised us all because she usually can go for days.  We came back to our house for a pancake breakfast, when low and behold she had a fever.  I gave her some medicine and she went home.  But I think she left us a gift as she departed (see next post)!

Trim the Tree

I'm not going to lie.....pulling the Christmas Tree out of the closet was pretty awesome!  We really did not miss one bit going to the tree stand and picking out our tree.  This is just too easy!  And every year the tree gets decorated faster and faster!  We only had 1 broken ornament too.....not by a child, but by the infamous Matt!  Every time Channing walks past the tree she says OOOhhh!  I love these special times with our kiddos.  They make us laugh and smile ~ and that is just the best feeling in the world!
And of course, you can't decorate the tree in your pj's!!  A purple tutu is the only feasible outfit.
And one tutu isn't enough.  When you are finished decorating the tree in your purple tutu, you need to change into a yellow tutu and have a little tea party with a Santa book!  I don't care how expensive these dance recital costumes were, seeing this girl wear them out makes them so worth every penny!  I love seeing a little girl in a tutu!

The Thanksgiving Bird

Ok.....so the bird was delivered to me in a trash bag this year.  No instructions, just a bag with a bird.  So I had to cook the thing alone.  I followed my Mom's verbal instructions to a T.....
 I washed the bird.
The kids helped me butter and salt the bird.  Finley named him Mister.  This were going so well.  UNTIL.....it was time to eat!!
Oh yes, I cooked the obnoxious thing upside down!!!  Matt started to carve the turkey and he kept saying "Where is the meat?!!"  Once we realized what I had done, we all couldn't stop laughing.  And there is that button thing my Dad kept talking about - which I swore ours didn't have!  It ended up being a good turkey, but we had to put it in the oven longer so we didn't eat until 7:00 pm!!  The kids kept asking if this was the latest we have ever eaten.  We also had the pan to blame.  Mom gave me some super thick pan to cook it in and we think that made it take longer too.  All in all, it was a delicious meal and my first turkey was still eatable!!
Grandma and Cha Cha!

Our Thanksgiving crew was very small this year!

Special Visitors

It is always a special treat for us when Aunt Peggy and Unlce David come to visit!  We all love seeing them!  We got a good couple of days in this time around and will cherish the time we spent with them always!  I love how Finley would keep telling Uncle David, "Uncle Dave....here's what we are going to do....."  We love these guys to bits and pieces!

Halloween

Halloween....my most disliked "holiday" or event.  I would like it more if there wasn't so many skulls, tombstones and scary things!  Since I dislike pouring money into this pointless event, we had to get creative with costumes.  So we have:  Channing as the gnome, Finley as the owl, Carly as the dryer, Chloe as the washer and Harper as the dirty laundry.  We went to a neighborhood little party thing and then the kids decided that they wanted to go trick or treating for the first time.  Since they don't eat candy, they decided they wanted to go collecting candy for their shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child...genius...why didn't I think of that before.  So they did one street in the neighborhood before they got cold and were done - yes, this holiday is overrated in their eyes too!
Channing wouldn't leave without her Bible.  I guess she wanted to preach it while she was hitting the streets!  She was a super cute gnome!
For some reason my pictures are not loading right and this one ended up in the middle and there are several that wouldn't download.  Oh well, I just need to post something to catch this blog up!  We also carved pumpkins...our Aldi $1.99 pumpkins!!!  They love doing this...check out Channing in the background.  She is so cute!  She had fun fishing through the pumpkin guts and eating raw pumpkin!
The washer and dryer - we had fun making these!!
They were a walking testimony!  I loved seeing everyone reading their backs as we walked away!  Harper had one too on his back, but that is one of those pics that didn't download.

And the owl!  My hand had blisters cutting out all those feathers.....but it was worth it seeing how cute she is!

Soccer

Another soccer season has come and gone.  Harper did soooo good this season.  I didn't get to see too many of his games, because Channing was just all over the place so I opted to stay home with her.  But that made it ever so special for Harper and Matt to get to spend some boy time together.  Harper loves to ride in Daddy's car!  He did make sure that Matt kept me up to date during the games so I knew how many goals he had made.  His coach was really good this time around and he learned alot of new skills.  He was constantly asking me what day it was, because he was just so excited for the weekend.  Great job Harper Banks!  We are proud of you!
